The bank’s Managing Director John Lwande said in Dodoma yesterday that his company donated the sheets to help facilitate the 420-bed hospital that caters for about 4,000 patients every day.
Ministry of Health and Social Welfare directives mandate eight bed sheets for every hospital bed.
But Lwande said the support is a continuation of the ACB Corporate Social Responsibility to give back some of its profit to the society in need.
“We were obliged to give a small amount of the benefits we get from our operations back to the community through various items we donated today,” he said, adding, “it should be remembered that this is not the first time we provide assistance to this hospital.”
Last year the bank donated relief materials and its staff members got engaged in cleaning the environment of the hospital, he said.
But nurse in charge of the hospital Rehema Mgina said that the facility has a shortage of 3,250 bed sheets, asking individuals and private companies to help cover the gap. She also expressed severe shortage of mattresses as another challenge, calling for immediate relief.
Along with charity, the bank keeps on expanding its network to reach 16 branches including the one in Dodoma.
