Dodoma referral hospital appeals for assistance

Following an acute shortage of linen facing the Dodoma Referral Hospital, authorities have sent an appeal for assistance from well-wishers.

The appeal was made recently by the hospital’s Nurse In-charge, Rehema Mgina, when she was receiving a donation of 100 bed sheets from Akiba Commercial Bank (ACB). She said despite the donation the hospital still has a shortage of 3,250 bed sheets.

She said the hospital has 420 beds and each needs at least eight bed sheets, according to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

“We are grateful to the ACB for its timely donation for the bed sheets will help us to a certain extent. But let me take this opportunity to call upon other institutions to help us with more bed sheets so that we can plug the shortage,” said Mgina.

For his part, the ACB managing director, John Lwande, said the donation was part and parcel of the bank’s social corporate responsibility (CSR).

“This is not the first time that the bank has offered assistance to this hospital as we earlier donated some equipment to the hospital. Earlier, our employees did some general cleaning of the hospital and its environment,” said Lwande.
